About Tianjin University
Tianjin University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of China. Formerly known as Peiyang University, it was established on October 2, 1895, and is recognized as the first modern university in China. It is renowned for its motto “Seeking truth from facts,” its rigorous academic culture, and its tradition of patriotism and dedication. About the College of Management and Economics, Tianjin University
Tianjin University’s management education traces back to the 1940s. In 1978, the university established the Institute of Systems Engineering, laying the foundation for the Management discipline. In 1984, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Tianjin University founded one of the first management schools in China. In 2009, the university pioneered a school-wide reform by setting up the College of Management and Economics (CoME).
Currently, CoME encompasses three first-level disciplines within Management (Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, and Public Administration), one first-level discipline in Economics (Applied Economics), and a second-level discipline in Engineering (Systems Engineering). Among these, Management Science and Engineering is first-class National Key Discipline and was rated A in the fourth round of discipline evaluations by the Ministry of Education. It achieved a significant breakthrough in the fifth round of evaluations and has consistently ranked the second place in ShanghaiRanking (ARWU) Best Chinese Subjects in 2023 and 2024. Guided by its mission of “We develop leaders with fact-based thinking, innovative spirit and social awareness through the creation, application, dissemination and integration of management, economics and engineering knowledge,” the college strives to cultivate globally minded talents who contribute to both academia and society.
About Hainan, Danzhou, and Ocean Flower Island
Hainan Province, located in the southernmost part of China, has seen rapid development in tourism, modern services, and high-tech industries in recent years. The release of the “Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port” in 2020 marked the official launch of Hainan’s free trade port construction. With its core policies of “zero tariffs, low tax rates, and a streamlined tax system,” Hainan aims to become an internationally competitive center of tourism and consumption, as well as a global hub for resource allocation.
Danzhou City, in northwestern Hainan, is one of the province’s four prefecture-level cities. It has a long history and rich cultural heritage. Serving as an important economic, cultural, and transportation hub in western Hainan, Danzhou boasts a beautiful coastline, tropical agricultural resources, and mineral deposits. The city also includes the Yangpu Economic Development Zone, which plays a key role in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port by focusing on oil and gas processing, shipping logistics, and international trade.
Ocean Flower Island is situated in the coastal new district of Danzhou City. Consisting of three independent offshore islands, it covers approximately 7.8 square kilometers, making it the world’s largest artificial flower-shaped island. This year’s conference will be held on Island No. 1 at the Ocean Flower Island International Conference Center.
